One of the best tours to get to know the city, its history, and culture.
Itinerary
First Stop:
We’ll start by admiring the vast Pacific Ocean. We’re the only capital city in South America with this beautiful view. We’ll walk through “El Parque del Amor” (Love Park), learning why it’s so special to the people of Lima.
Second Stop:
Within the modernity of the Miraflores district lies a pre-Inca structure, an archaeological complex dating back to 200 to 700 AD, belonging to the Lima culture. We’ll have a panoramic view of this truncated pyramid where we’ll tell you about its history.
Third Stop:
We’ll continue our 30-minute visit to downtown Lima, reaching “Plaza San Martin,” one of the most important squares in Peru and the starting point for our walking tour of Lima’s historic center. This square was built in 1921 to celebrate the first 100 years of independence.
Fourth Stop:
We will continue walking along the “Jirón de la Unión,” a mandatory stop for all those heading to Lima’s main square. This was one of the main commercial routes and today displays beautiful houses and balconies from that era.
Until we reach the Plaza de Armas, also known as Plaza Mayor, the birthplace of Lima. This is where Francisco Pizarro founded the city of Lima in 1535, and is therefore the oldest square in the city. The historical grandeur is reflected in the buildings surrounding the square, such as the Government Palace, the Archbishop’s Palace, and the Cathedral.
Fifth Stop:
We will arrive at the Convent Museum of San Francisco, home to the most extensive and best-preserved network of catacombs in South America. Its size is surpassed only by the catacombs of Paris, France.
We will step back in time to witness these enigmatic artifacts, silent witnesses of centuries past. We’ll walk through its passageways and then marvel at the colonial architecture, which holds countless secrets.
Finally, we’ll return to the hotel or another point of interest.
